Get ready to feel a wave of nostalgia mixed with futuristic excitement, because Tata Motors has officially brought back an icon! The much-loved Tata Sierra is making a grand comeback, not just as a single car, but in two powerful avatars: a modern electric vehicle (EV) and a traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) version. This is big news, and it’s clear that Tata is aiming to shake up the mid-size SUV segment.

While a production-ready concept of the Tata Sierra was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the brand has adopted a strategic “EV-first” approach. The Tata Sierra EV is expected to hit the market in late 2025 or early 2026, with the ICE version to follow shortly after. This shows Tata’s commitment to India’s electric mobility future.

The Tata Sierra EV is expected to be priced between ₹25 lakh and ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom), while the ICE version is likely to be more accessible, with an estimated price range of ₹15 lakh to ₹25 lakh. This pricing strategy places the Sierra in direct competition with some of the biggest names in the SUV space.

The new Tata Sierra beautifully blends its classic, boxy silhouette with Tata’s modern “Impact 2.0” design philosophy. The signature wraparound rear glass is back, but it’s now paired with sleek, connected LED light bars at the front and back. The SUV has a strong, upright stance, muscular wheel arches, and flush-style door handles that give it a premium, futuristic feel. The design has been met with widespread praise from both the public and critics, with many calling it a “game-changer” for its segment.

Variants, Specs, and Features

The Tata Sierra will be a 5-seater SUV, with a unique 4-seater “lounge” variant also expected for the EV model. This lounge version is rumored to have business-class style reclining seats, a first in this segment, offering unparalleled comfort.

Under the hood, the Sierra EV is expected to get a large battery pack, possibly around 60 kWh, promising a fantastic range of over 500 km on a single charge. It will also support fast charging and even V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) and V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) technology, allowing you to power external devices or even charge another EV. The ICE version will be powered by Tata’s new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and the proven 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine that also powers the Harrier and Safari.

Inside, the cabin is where the Sierra truly shines. It’s expected to be a tech-fest with a triple-screen layout, including a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a third screen for the co-driver. Other premium features will include Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated seats.

Tata Sierra aiming to take on established rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, as well as the new Maruti Victoris and even its own sibling, the Tata Harrier. With its premium features, bold design, and the option of an EV powertrain, the Sierra is poised to be a disruptor.

Social media is abuzz with excitement. Car enthusiasts and fans of the original Sierra are overjoyed at its return. Comments like “Hats off to Tata!” and “The Creta killer is back!” are flooding online forums. The 5-star safety rating that many are expecting from the Sierra is a huge selling point, aligning perfectly with Tata’s reputation for making some of India’s safest cars. The public’s expectations are sky-high, and if Tata delivers on all the promises, the new Sierra is set to be another blockbuster success story for the brand.
